IK Multimedia says they produced the best virtual instrument ever in the Mellotron-cathegory. SampleTron, the package is priced relatively high: it costs 250 euro - here you can order it immediately. The instrument is based on a SampleTank playback engine with 16-part multitimbrality and 256 of polyphony, plus four effects at a time (chosen from 32). The sample material it plays is more than 2 gigabytes long, consists of more than 600 sound programs, sampled from seventeen different instruments: Mellotrons, Chamberlins, Novatron, Optigan and some more.
